ENGINEERING Department is headed by Madam Naomi Odira. The Department comprises 3 sections namely Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Building and Construction. When the Institute was started back in 2015, the Department had a total of 15 students taking various courses. To date, the department has grown and we have a total of 679 students. The courses offered range from Artisan to Diploma.
Electrical and Electronics Section
This Section offer the following courses: Artisan in Electrical Installation, Craft Certificate in Electrical and Electronics – power option and telecommunication option, module I and II, and Diploma in Electrical and Electronics, Power option, Telecommunication option and Instrumentation and control option, Module I, II and III. We also plan to introduce short courses that run for 3 or 6 months and are examined by National Industrial Training Authority. Electrical and Electronics Section is one of the major sections in our Institutions with majority of the trainees. We have well equipped workshops and training materials. Our trainees are competent in practical and our students do well in exams.
This section offers the following courses: Artisan in Welding and fabrication, Craft Certificate in Welding and Fabrication, Craft Certificate in Automotive Engineering (module I and II module), Diploma in Automotive Engineering (module I, II and III), Craft Certification in Mechanical-Production (Module I and II) and Diploma in Mechanical-production and plant (Module I, II and III). This section is one of the newly introduced section and is already doing very well.
Building and Construction Section
This section offers the following courses: Artisan in Plumbing, masonry and Carpentry, Craft in Plumbing and Building & Construction and Diploma in Building and Construction, Quantity Survey and Civil. The section has enough space to offer practical lessons especially in masonry and plumbing.
As a department we work with a committed team who ensures that the demands of the trainees are met. The team is also committed to fulfilling the vision and mission of our Institution. We strived as a department to produce competent trainees who fit in the job market and are entrepreneurs. I therefore encourage trainees to join our institution to learn skills for growth and together we move towards meeting the objectives of vision 2030.
Apart from being HOD Engineering, i have also trained music students and they did well nationally. We are going to Rwanda this year and we hope that we shall emerge victorious
